Empowering UNM’s category III research center community with secure, scalable, and reliable IT solutions.
The Office of the Vice President for Research IT (OVPR IT) has a small team of IT professionals charged with providing strategic, secure, and scalable information technology services to support the diverse research enterprise at the 11 Category 3 Research Centers and Institutes. Our mission is to empower the faculty of our research centers, and core administrative units under the OVPR with the tools, infrastructure, and expertise they need to conduct innovative and compliant research.
OVPR IT in collaboration with UNM IT oversees IT support for the Office of the Vice President for Research, Faculty Research Development Office, and 11 Category 3 research centers. We coordinate and provision access to research applications and secure data environments, ensures compliance with institutional and federal standards (including HIPAA, FERPA, and NIST), and partners with campus-wide stakeholders to align technology with research goals. Whether it’s managing research computing resources, improving data governance, or assisting with grant workflows, our team is committed to enabling research excellence through technology.
